Mission District resident Walter Parenteau is set to close out a citywide walking project on Saturday with friends and followers joining him at Sue Bierman Park near Washington and Drumm streets. His route has covered San Francisco, Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island over four years.

The walks grew from his daily travel between the Mission and St. Anthony's Foundation in the Tenderloin, where he leads shower and laundry services. Parenteau tracked the project on a paper map marked by year, using only a phone photo of the map and Google Maps while he explored neighborhoods after work.
