Blueprints show ICE facility planned outside Gilroy
Plans for an ICE site at 7240 Holsclaw Road include detention, processing and holding areas. Santa Clara County officials are reviewing legal options to challenge the project.

Blueprints dated Sept. 17, 2025 describe a facility in an unincorporated area just outside Gilroy, with spaces for detainee processing, interviews, visitation, mothers with infants, weapons storage, offices and a fitness center. Earlier public records pointed to a smaller detention area with offices, but the full project is about 20,000 square feet and construction activity has already been seen at the fenced property.
Santa Clara County Counsel Tony LoPresti says the county is looking at ways to stop a facility it views as violating local land use rules. ICE has described the project as an office, while local organizers, the Gilroy City Council and Monterey County officials have pushed back against detention capacity in the region.
